Cissbury Ring Walk and Chanctonbury Hill

Cissbury ring walk path and views

This Cissbury Ring walk is a fairly short 13km route so it isn’t too challenging making it perfect for a Sunday afternoon. This was my first time walking around Cissbury Ring and it is beautiful! There are views of the gorgeous English countryside on one side and views out to sea on the other giving you tons of options for the perfect picnic spot to enjoy your road sandwich!

If you’re just looking for a quick walk with little ones, or small dogs then simply walk around the Ring and head straight back to the car park – there were lots of people there with young children, pushchairs and small dogs doing the shorter walk.

If you enjoyed this Cissbury Ring walk please share the route with friends and let me know how you get on in the comments!

Start this Cissbury Ring walk in Storrington Rise car park and head up through the fields and a small bit of woodland.

Once you reach the Cissbury ring follow it around to the left and keep to the path for about 1km. You will then reach a turning that heads down to the left, follow this path and head through the small car park. Stick to this path for about 1.4km, then you will reach a fork, follow the path to the right.

Once you reach a t-junction head on the left path and this will take you to Chanctonbury Hill. Walk up and around the hill, or this would be the perfect spot for a picnic as the views are stunning!

Keep to the path as it takes you back down towards the Cissbury Ring, this is approximately 2.6km. You’ll then reach another t-junction, turn left here and follow the path for approximately 700m then turn right. At the crossroads keep heading straight then make a left and follow the path until you reach another t-junction. This time turn right, you have now come full circle, follow the path right and this will take you back through the small car park you passed through earlier.

Head back up towards Cissbury Ring and head left this time to go around the other side of the ring, on this side are views out towards Worthing and to the sea. Follow the ring all the way around and head back down towards Storrington Rise car park the same way you came up.

Well done on completing this walk – please share and leave a comment!
